Mid-Summer News Update
Hi folks, we hope you all enjoyed the Solstice - The summer is in full swing and Leatherat have been busy busy busy!
Last weekend, despite the weather, Leatherat hosted their own weekend-long festival in Banbury. "The 'At Bash" featured a superb line-up; every act I saw was a class act. Next year, it will be sunny, hot and the range of cider will grow ever more impressive! A big thank you to everybody that supported and attended the festival.
Next weekend we'll be headlining at Middleton Music Festival on the outskirts of Banbury. http://www.middletonmusicfestival.co.uk/
We'd love to see you there so please come along and help us rock the place apart! For those of you that didn't catch us at the 'At Bash, we've started introducing even more new material into the set. Exciting times! We've got a host of gigs approaching so please take a look at the gigs page for details.
In August, we've been asked to perform at the Beautiful Days festival, Escot Park, Devon... our hosts for the weekend will be the Levellers!!! Pete & Jono claim the Lev's to be one of their greatest influences. In fact, if Jono hadn't listened to a copy of "Levelling the Land" on cassette at the age of 14, he probably would never have started to play folk-rock music and Leatherat would never have come to pass. So... hugely significant to us! We REALLY hope to see you guys there. We'll be on the "Bimble Inn" stage (start small, think big!); date and time TBC. Hip hip... huzzah!
We have a brand new website in development at the moment. This is being designed by our friends at Toast Design in Banbury. Check 'em out for all your design needs :o) http://www.toastdesign.co.uk/
We're taking our time to get it looking really great and hope to have a much more functional webshop amongst many other cool new features. Keep watching this space! And hey, if you're not already friends with us on facebook then you should be, so go there next and make virtual friends with us. You can follow us on Twitter too (twitter/Leatherat) where you'll regularly find random ramblings from Hugh and probably some funny pictures from backstage at various gigs etc.
And finally, our lovely Bass monkey (Jeremy) has taken some time out to put a couple of video's on YouTube for you. Both are taken from our "Live at Fairport's Cropredy Convention" DVD (available in the shops folks). Fantastic viewing and our proudest moment to date (check out the smiles and feel the love folks). Here you go... enjoy! We'll see you at a gig real soon.

NEW LEATHERAT SINGLE RELEASED
Yes folks, it's true! Leatherat have 'officially' released a single! It's called "Song About Love" and is available through iTunes, Amazon and Play. Don't you worry, it's not a love song, despite the title, more a protest song! But not protesting against love... we support love... err, anyway!
The fact is that if the public download 1200 copies of our single, then we'll almost certainly enter the charts. How cool would that be?! The answer... very cool :)
You can watch the video here:
So please please please, raid your loose change jar for 79p and buy our single! It's one in the eye for Simon Cowell if nothing else! Cheers you lovely people! Keep on Folkin'!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Leatherat wave a fond farewell to 2010 and offer our warmest welcome to 2011! A new year is upon us folks. How on earth can it top the last year?
Let's look back at the highlights shall we...
Ahh, the merry month of May! Which saw Leatherat playing a battlefield in Naseby and sharing a stage with the Cheeky Girls (amongst others) at Bearded Theory festival. Then there was the Acoustic Festival of Great Britain; we played to a packed out crowd through a solar-powered PA system! (Cosmic!) and our well-warmed up audience swiftly disappeared to watch the Levellers play (As did the band!).
Then June saw us once again sharing dusty planks with the Levs at The Shires Show! Ask Pete about chatting with the Levs backstage... he remembers chatting but can't be sure what about!
As the summer bimbled on (as summers often do) we were very much 'Home & Away'; a number of local festivals allowed us to showcase our fiery folk music (the good people of Adderbury and Hook Norton know what I'm talking about :o), The crazy guys of the Netherlands Chopper Club learnt how to rock-out Leatherat style! (whilst we learnt to party chopper-club style) and of course there was a little festival just North of Banbury that we very much enjoyed playing at... Fairport's Cropredy Convention!!!
Ahh - Wonderful.
In September we took a trip to Farnham for a long weekend away - at Weyfest! Our annual summer holiday if you will (but Dave makes us work bloody hard ;o)
We rounded the year off with a pair of sell-out shows at the Mill Theatre in Banbury. So sad that a number of you couldn't make it the first show, the weather keeping many of you away. Snow good dwelling on it! We returned to the Mill a week or so later and filled the place to the rafters! Thanks to you ALL for coming.
And thanks to everybody that came to see us over 2010 - you made it an unbeatable year!
2011 promises to be another stonker for Leatherat and we'll be keeping everybody up to date here on the Leatherat website. In the meantime, if you haven't already ordered your copy of Leatherat's live show @ Cropredy on DVD, or the new compilation album "Choice Blend"... then you probably should go and do it right now :)
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

Leatherat Web Shop
A question Leatherat often get asked is "Why is your web shop so rubbish?". Well I'm here to explain! We're musicians you see, not web-designers and as such, we can't be expected to provide hard-rockin folk AND a web shop that's easy, intuitive and reliable to use :o)
So in seriousness - yes it's a little clunky but it's not broken. You'll find that 9 times out of 10 all you need do is select the "settings" menu in your internet browser and set the security settings down to low. This enables "cookies" .... mmmmm cooookieess... which in non-foodie terms means the shop can deal with your order! So, please do try it for yourself! And if all else fails, simply send the money via PayPal to shop@leatherat.com and make a note of what you'd like us to send and we'll take it from there :)
