Cropredy 2010 |

Well what an amazing weekend from start to finish. We arrived on Wednesday night and so had a long wait until 5pm on Thursday. An hour before the gig and it was raining so heavily we wondered if there would be a crowd left to play to.....30 seconds before the gig....we lost Jim! But we got on, and had the most amazing time. It absolutely flew by. I remember looking at the set list and there being only 3 songs to go and thinking....slow down! Please, slow down! And then looking and seeing the last track Large One and thinking to myself - just look up and remember what you see. What an amazing crowd reaction.
Then there was the signing - thank you so much to everyone who came down for that - it took 1 hour and 20 minutes, but was great to meet everyone! Whoever it was who made us sign their Welly, great thinking!!!
Then of course there was the Brasenose gig on the Saturday. This gig was much more relaxed, but it was still completely and utterly packed out! Again, thanks so much to everyone who came! :)
What a weekend! It will go down as the best in my life so far..... |

Emmas Trust & Mantlefest 2007 |
| |
Hello all, time for my once monthly blog! I've been learning lots of new skills this summer, such as wee'ing behind generators backstage without getting seen or electrecuted, not completely spazzing out and going bezerk when the strobe light comes on over the intro of I Like A Smoke and twirling my drumsticks without accidentally letting go and spearing the bass player in the earlobe.
And has it been worth it? Yes of course it has!!! No more so than and Emmas Day Festival last weekend. The guys there had a fantastic setup and a very nice stage and it was worth it just to meet the roadies. :)
This weekend sees our first ever Live DVD recording at Mantlefest 2007, which I'm really looking forward to. I really hope it's as successful as last year as that show was great to play and fantastic to get drunk at at the after show party!
So see you there, and join me at the bar for one after the gig. The drinks are on Pete!!!! :) |

Recent Events! |

We've now entered into our 13-week summer tour and things are going very nicely! From the sun-drenched festivals to the rain-drenched festivals, we appear to be going down very nicely indeed! Thanks to everyone who came to the Cropredy gig and making it so special for us this year. It was such great fun, and the weather held up for us all - I'm sure only due to the amount of cider you were all drinking!!! Looking forward to the next run of gigs - see you all there! Hugh. x |

Finger Lickin' Good |
| |
So there I was, cutting lemons on a sunday night, to pop in the odd diet coke or two. My knife was blunt so I had to push extra hard. Can you guess what's coming? Yep, someone called my name and I turned round and put the kitchen knife through my thumb and forefinger.
Going to have to strap it up for this weekends gig. But don't worry all, I'll be there. I'm mummy's little soldier. :) |

Bass Drum Fury |
| |
Ok, so cut to 11:45pm, 29th December, 2006, and there I am smacking the fuck out of my drum kit onstage at the Mill in Banbury, with Leatherat.
The gig has been great fun so far, you knows the kind of thing, capacity crowd, lots of drunken nutters jumping up and down and yelling in a frenzy and it comes to the time of the evening at the end of People's Song where our hairy singer starts introducing the band....hurrah!
Exciting you may say? Yers! The one bit during the entire gig where I get to show off and play completely on my own without hippies in kaftans, tatoo'd maniacs and corporate entities, and what happens? 30 seconds in and I put my bloody bass drum pedal through my double-skinned bass drum, where it lodged and refused to come out. Balls.
I have been told since that a sort of look of fear, then panic, and then reluctant acceptance came over my face, just as I sort of...well...stopped playing really. Fucking nightmare.
I would have gone really red, were it not for the foundation I was wearing. :)
