Off to a flying start! |
Saturday night (the 26th) saw Leatherat performing their first appearence of the season, hosted by the Kineton Beer Festival in Warwickshire. The band were a little nervous before taking the stage but ended up doing what comes naturally - rockin' the arses off the audience! A great time was had by all and if the performances over the rest of the summer as as power-packed and as tight as they were on Saturday, then you folks are in for a treat! It's good to be back.
Our next few gigs will be a little further North than our home town and those guys who haven't seen us for a while can look forward to hearing a number of new songs; including our new opening track "Short Time on Earth" which we first performed at our Christmas party last December. Other songs include Bret & Pete's "Fight Club" and our very latest song that we plan to debut this weekend for the people of Scunthorpe, called "What Will You Do".
So exciting times for Leatherat and the unsuspecting public who we hope to meet at many of our gigs over the course of the summer. Lock up your cider... |

The Year of the 'Ats |
Howdy folks! How goes it out there in the real world? I know, I know... you've come to visit us here as a kind of escape from the every day drudgery that surrounds us haven't you?!
Well you've come to the right place at the right time! We know just how to cheer you up!
Firstly, take a look at the 'gigs' page. Notice anything different? That's right! We're booking dates in from February right through to October already. Our plan this year is to play lots of festival stages across the country - so there's a good chance we'll be playing near you. Drop by and see us! We will - we will - folk you!
Secondly, for those of you that missed it - we released a live DVD "Reserved for Freaks & Weirdo's" at Christmas time. It's not available to buy in the Leatherat shop but if you would like to order a copy you need only email us enquiries@leatherat.com and we'll arrange to get one out to you
Well that's it for now, except to say keep two eyes on the gigs page, we're updating it every few days at the moment so you can keep up to speed with where we can be found rockin'! Huzzah! |

MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR |
Festive salutations 'at fans. Here's a short note to wish you all the very best this yuletide. Thanks so much for all your support over 2007, thanks to those of you that came to see us at any of our gigs, especially our Christmas party at the Mill last week - what a great night!
Here's to you guys! Have a great Christmas and we'll see you in 2008 for more folk-rock-fun! |

It's Oh... So... Quiet! |
Shhh, the 'at's are resting! That's right, those unstoppable monsters of folk-rock are taking a nap :o)
Bret and Pete have been dreaming up new songs! Hugh and Jem have been working in their sleep; preparing the new Leatherat Live DVD "Reserved for Freaks & Weirdo's", ready for Santa (so no Leatherat fan will be dissapointed this festive season). Jono's been snoring, and his Black 'Bridge' electric fiddle has gone away for a makeover!
You'll be seeing the at's slowly stirring over the coming weeks. Posters will be appearing all over the place, telling you good people all about the Christmas blowout on December 15th @ The Mill Theatre, Banbury. Support that night will be provided by the very capable and extremely cool Silverdogs (www.silverdogs.co.uk) :o) Tickets are available now from The Mill Theatre Box Office on 01295 279002.
By way of thanks to anyone who come's to join us at our end of year blowout, you'll be treated to a super-sweet discount off the new DVD, and a personal invite to the aftershow party at The New Flyer, Banbury (open until 3am, just for us!). Oh, and there'll probably be badges (again)! |

Leatherat Live DVD! |
Good day to you 'At fans! And as ever, a great big thank you to anyone who has come to support us at any of our recent stint of gigs around the country. We've been having fun, and clearly you have too! We're nearly at the end of our busy summer crusade now with just a few more gigs to go until we have a little rest in Autumn to prepare for our Christmas blowout at the Mill. More news on that in the coming weeks.
As some of you may or may not know, on Friday the 28th of September 2007, Leatherat will take to the stage to headline the evenings entertainment at this years Mantlefest!
Now into it's second year, Mantlefest commemorates the life of Leatherat's great friend so tragically lost, Mr Dave Mantle. This year the festival is extended to a 3-day event, being held at the New Flyer, Parson Street, Banbury. See www.myspace.com/mantlefest for full details :)
Now for the best bit... Leatherat are planning to have their performance at Mantlefest professionally filmed and made into a live DVD! All things being well, the DVD will be ready and available to buy, by Christmas '07.
So how badly do you want to appear on Leatherat's live DVD? Well... all I can say is, you'd better be there, and you'd better be near the front!!!
HUZZAH!

That darn Leatherat shop! |
Just a quick update to let you know that we are investigating problems with the leatherat online shop. That doesn't mean we can fix the problems, just that we are investigating!
So just a reminder, if you find you are having difficulties buying stuff from us, you can either email Jono at enquiries@leatherat.com , or you can send a PayPal payment direct to shop@leatherat.com and complete your transaction that way :o) |

A big thank you... |
... to everybody who joined us at the Brasenose in Cropredy over the weekend. Didn't we have great wether for it! Phewie... and surely it's no coincidence that the pub sold out of cider while we were playing? You boozy lot!
We had a terrific time and really hope you did too. Same time next year? but on the mainstage?! Let's wait and see.
Some of you were not lucky enough to get hold of a copy of Garden of Eden. Sorry we had to dissapoint you folks, sales were quick and slightly in excess of what we'd anticipated. You can however buy the CD online through the Leatherat shop. Now the shop is quite easy but on ocasion it does make life difficult when it comes to making payment. If you find you are having difficulties, you can either email Jono at enquiries@leatherat.com , or you can send a PayPal payment direct to shop@leatherat.com and complete your transaction that way.
In any event, get in touch with us via the forum to say hi and maybe tell us what you thought of the performance at the weekend!
Bye for now! |

Cropredy, here we come! |
Since Hugh returned from Thailand (engaged to the lovely Fran, no less!), Jem returned from Cornwall, Bret returned from unconciousness, Jono got changed his car AGAIN and Pete gave up smoking!
But we've also been gigging the new album "Garden Of Eden" quite intensively. This weekend we played 3 shows in less than 24hrs, which was pretty exhausting but we loved every minute of it!
This Saturday coming brings us to one of the highlight shows of the year for us. Being as almost all of the band have a special place in our hearts for Fairport's Cropredy Convention, it means we get to enjoy the festival and play a show at the Brasenose to a sunny, packed-out beer garden! What could be better, other than playing on the main-stage (hint hint! :o)
Hopefully we'll see you there, but if you can't make that one, take a look at the gigs page and get yourself to one of our other shows up and down the country; HUZZAH! |

Hey hey! Leatherat rock! |
So it's been some time since we last updated you lovely people with the comings and goings of the good ship Leatherat. I suppose most importantly for those of you that do not already know, the new album "Garden of Eden" was released in March to an unsuspecting public at The New Flyer in Banbury (the bands spiritual home!). So far it has been very well received by all that have bought it.
As you can see, the new website is now live! We hope you like it, as we've designed it with you in mind! So if you have any feedback on what you like or what we could improve, please use the 'Contact' link on the menu (left) to drop us a line :o)
Leatherat have lined up a tremendous gigging schedule for the summer, take a look at the 'Gigs' link on the menu to see if we're playing anywhere near you. This weekend we will support Space Ritual at the Shires Show near Stoke on Trent, which promises to be one of the biggest gigs we'e ever played and as you can imagine, the band are all really excited!
So for now, it just remains for me to say thank you all for your continued support! If you haven't got 'Garden of Eden' yet then you can hear samples of the album everytime you click on a new page on this website. If you like what you hear, get yourself into our virtual shop and buy it for heavens sake!!! ;O) |
