Biography - Jono Watts - Fiddle

Bret Nichols
Self-confessed fiddler, lover of animals across the globe, petrolhead, real-ale and whisky connoisseur, secret-chef and husband to Emma.

Jono has been playing the violin since the age of 8, he was classically trained for a good many years but was instantly converted when he first heard "Levelling the Land" by the Levellers. Jono say's "if it wasn't for that album, there's no way I'd be here today doing this in Leatherat".
Jono's collection of instruments is ever increasing (along with his overdraft facility) and aside from a gaggle of guitars and various violins, his current work-horses are a Bridge Aquila (www.bridgeinstruments.co.uk), a custom designed Ted Brewer Crossbow (the see-through one! www.tedbrewerviolins.com) and another Bridge fiddle, the Tasman. Jono's floor pedals are a sight to behold although he assures us he's trying to downsize. Jono uses a number of Boss stomp boxes - Jono is not sponsored by Boss ;o)

Outside of Leatherat, Jono spends a lot of time relaxing at home with his wife and what he describes as "a small petting zoo". Jono & Emma live with 3 dogs, 3 cats, a giant rabbit, 10 chickens, a tank and a pond full of fish. One of Jono's dogs was once living stray in Greece! He was able to offer the dog a home here in the UK with the help of UK charity www.greekanimalrescue.co.uk and as such, spends some of his time arranging and supporting fundraising activity for the charity.

Jono's other passion is his cars, he's especially interested in Japanese performance vehicles and is the lucky owner of two Nissan Skyline's. See pics below.

Jono says of Leatherat "I'm very thankful to Pete for giving us this opportunity to play the music we both love. I've wanted to do this since I was a young teen and I love what we're doing. I'm looking forward to taking the band as far is it can go and playing some big-ass stages! Rock on!"
